Two ICDS Blocks (integrated child development services) Sidhwan Bet & Jagraon are being run under the Subdivision Jagraon. ICDS Block Sidhwan Bet is being run by Child Welfare Council Punjab since 1997. 116 Anganwari Centers are being run by this office in 86 villages of Block Sidhwan Bet (Ludhiana). In this block 2 CDPO's and 4 supervisors are in position. ICDS Block Jagraon is being run by department of Social Security Women and Child Development. 186 Anganwari Centers are being run by this office in 53 villages of block Jagraon. In this block post of CDPO and 7 Supervisors are in position. CDPO's are mainly focusing on all the developments of the children of age group of 0 -6 yrs and are working to uplift the women financially particularly in rural areas and social schemes like Pension Scheme ,Bebe Nanki Ladli Beti Scheme , etc. are given by supervisors in their circles.
Children with age group of 3-6 yrs are given this service.
Children with age group of 6 months -6 yrs, pregnant and lactating mothers are given nutritious food.
Children with age group 0-6 yrs, pregnant and lactating mothers are facilitated with Health Check - up's .
Children with age group of 0-6 yrs & pregnant ladies are Immunized.
Women of age group 15 - 45 yrs are given Health and Nutrition Education.
Children with group of 0-6 yrs & pregnant and lactating mothers are given referral services.
Cases of old age, widow, dependent children and handicapped persons are received from villages and these are checked and scrutinized by the offices. These are then transferred to SDM Office for provisional permission. Then the approved cases are sent to District Social Security Officer, Ludhiana for final approval.
Earlier this Scheme was known as Kanya Jagriti Jyoti Scheme. This scheme has been renamed by Punjab Government. Under this scheme, Scholarship is paid to girl students of poor families. Two girls of a family may be covered under this scheme.
Swayamsidha Scheme was launched by Government of India to uplift the women financially, particularly in rural areas. ICDS Block Sidhwan Bet was also selected to implement this scheme. 113 Self Help Groups of women have been formed. Members of these SHG's are engaged in Stitching and embroidery. karyana shops, beauty parlors, farming, soap and detergent making, etc..
Under this scheme Anganwari Workers and Anganwari Helpers between the age group of 18 - 59 yrs are covered under insurance. In case of death of any covered AWW's or AWH's, Rs.30,000/- are paid to the nominee. If any covered member suffers from cancer related diseases, an amount up to Rs.75,000/- is also given for treatment. Scholarship of Rs.1200/-(annually) is also given by LIC to two children of covered members.
