G.H.G. Harparkash College of Education is situated in natural surroundings of village Sidhwan Khurd on Ludhiana -Ferozepur road at a distance of 30 km from Ludhiana. This college is well known center of rural women education and has become an icon of women education.
This group of institutes was initiated by a great visionary Bhai Sahib Bhai Narain Singh Ji in 1909 i.e. 103 years ago. He himself, his wife Mata Ram Kaur Ji and his daughter Bibi Harparkash Kaur Ji devoted their whole lives for the sake of women education. An educational trust under the name of Sri Guru Hargobind Ujjagar Hari Trust, Sidhwan Khurd was established in 1934 and Bhai Sahib Bhai Narain Singh Ji became first president of the trust. Bibi Harparkash Kaur became president of the trust in 1950 after death of her parents.
In 1950 Khalsa College for Women and in 1955 Basic Training College came into existence. Bibi Harparkash Kaur steered the institutions ahead with a missionary zeal. To laud her spirit of dedication and the pioneer work done by her for the spread of women education in rural Punjab, she was awarded Padam Shri by Govt. of India in the year 1960. Padam Shri Bibi Harparkash Kaur left for her eternal abode in 1965. In her sacred memory the Training College was renamed after her as G.H.G. Harparkash College of Education for Women in 1966.M.Ed. classes were started in 1969. Till date 13750 B.Ed. students and 685 M.Ed. students have successfully got their degrees through this institution.
The trust started Guru Hargobind Public Sr. Sec. School in 1977 and in 2006 G.H.G. Institute of Law for Women was established. At present five institutions are successfully running under S.G.H.G.U. Hari Trust, Sidhwan Khurd.

75 percent class attendance in all the paper/ praticals is compulsory as per university rules. Strict action will be taken by the principal against the irregular students and its intimation will be sent to their respective parents for information. The name of the students will be struck off from college rolls for remaining absent for more than seven days continuously.
House TestAs per university rules, the college will conduct two house tests in the month of Sep. and Dec. Appearance in all these tests and to obtain minimum 40 percent marks in each paper is compulsory to be eligible to appear in the final exam.
Participation of all the students in all the activities / functions organized in the college is compulsory.

Applications for leave are enterained only on the prescribed leave application from available from the college office. Leave up to three days will be granted by the tutor. Leave for more than three days will be granted by the principal on the recommendation of the tutor.
The poor and needy students are provided financial help out of student aid fund to meet their educational expenses.
Smoking, Drinking and taking of any type of intoxicants are forbidden in the college premises.
Pupil - Teacher should wear simple, neat, clean and teacher like dress.
It is moral duty of all the students to protect the college property.
Attendance in all the college functions is compulsory.
During the college timing, the students cannot leave their classes to attend the guests.
No relative is allowed to meet the girls without the prior permission of the principal.
In the college the students, boys and girls are not allowed to celebrate their birthday, marriage or any other party. Defaulters will be severely dealt with.
The text-books prescribed for study must be procured immediately after admission.
No student will be allowed to accept any employment during the courses of training.
Regging is strictly banned in the college as well as in the hostel. Those who violate this rule shall be strictly dealt with.
Bus Pass facility is available as per Punjab Govt. Rules
The College has a specious library enriched with encyclopedia and referencebooks besides large number of books relating to each subjects, magazines,education journals, periodicals and newspapers. Conferences and seminars are a regular feature of the institution to simulate insight, creative thinking, to develop moral calues and all round development of personality of the students. Extension lectures by eminent educationists and scholars are organized to supplement class-room teaching.
Each Student is required to take part in a least one game.
Inter-Section sports competitions are held.
The College Teams participate in the P.U. evening and Educational college tournaments. The achievements of the college are commendable in this field
College is the winner of General Championship of P.U. (Eve. & Edu. Colleges) for the last seven years and is winner of P.U. Atheletice. & Edu. Colleges) for the last seven years and is winner of P.U. Atheleticchampionship (Edu. & Evening) for the Ninth time in a row.
The college magazine “Miri-Piri” is published every year. It has 5 sections namely Punjabi Section, Hindi Section, English Section, Math/Science Section and Research Section. Student Edition are selected on the basis of their test of creative writing to be held in sept. 2008. students should give their articles to the Student Editors for publication upto 15 Feb 2009
